Hello SAS families and supporters! Your Box Tops Team is back and filled with anticipation about the new school year…and earning money for our great school with Box Tops for Education (BTFE)!
If you’re not familiar with BTFE, it’s a national program started by General Mills in 1996. Since then, schools have earned over $400 MILLION dollars!!! Participating products come with a little clippable coupon which looks like the one in the upper left corner of this page. Each one is worth 10 cents cash. “That’s nice”, you may think, “but it’s only 10 cents, hardly worth taking the time to cut it off the box.” Well…..last year SAS families and supporters turned in over TEN THOUSAND Box Tops, (I know, I counted every single one!) which brought our school over $1,000.00 CASH! Not only that, parents entered Box Tops sponsored sweepstakes—one of which we won to the tune of $2,500 CASH! Wow! Over $3500.00 for SAS!
It’s not only parents who are affected by the faltering economy, but also our schools. There’s not a lot of money kicking around for extras, and school administrators are understandably reticent to ask for extra $$ for equipment, books, toys, playground equipment, and musical instruments when families give so generously already. That’s where the Box Tops program comes in. The beauty of it is that no one is asking you to open your wallet, except for the things you already buy at the grocery store. Cheerios, Juicy Juice, Land o’ Lakes butter, Kleenex, Yoplait yogurt, Hefty trash bags, Green Giant frozen veggies, Fruit Roll-up snacks, Welch’s grape jelly, Old el Paso taco kits, Cottonelle toilet paper, Brita water filtration systems, Hanes t-shirts, and Avery school/business supplies are among the hundreds of products that participate in the program. So…when your product is unwrapped or empty, clip the coupon and save them in a baggie or
envelope, and turn them in at school! It’s that easy. Follow this link for a complete list of products: http://www.boxtops4education.com/earn/clip/Brands.aspx
I know some families who between work, homework, sports, and extracurricular activities barely have time to breathe and don’t have the extra time to remember to clip and save. You could consider asking your kids’ grandparents or your neighbors to save for SAS also!
Next week, we’ll tell you about another fantastic way to earn $$ for SAS through Box Tops for Education, which asks for nothing extra from you except doing the on-line shopping you were already planning to do! Until then….keep clipping!! Woo-hooo!
