“ a good man - a righteous and holy man - has been taken from the world. A useful man to a degree second to few in this community. A kind, loyal, loving friend, not alone to those of his own communion, but also to those of other communions...” Governor Cooke of Connecticut.
Father Leo was orginally buried on church grounds but was reinterred at St. Joseph’s cemetery.
The Rizzo family would reappear in northwest Connecticut’s history. This time in Torrington. Father Anthony Rizzo, Father Leo’s nephew, was the second pastor of St. Peter’s parish for two years from 1912-1914.
