April 29, 2008

Dear Moms and Dads,

By the time you read this letter, we will be on the eve of celebrating the month of Mary. May is a beautiful month for each of us... tress and plants begin to blossom... the season of spring aids each of us in a time of gratitude and peace. It is only fitting that this month be dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary; she is our model of love and goodness. Share the Rosary, or at least a decade of the Rosary, with your children each day. Your example in prayer will aid them in making the Rosary a part of their life each day.

At St. Anthony School we will celebrating Mary as the Queen of heaven and earth at our Annual May Crowning which is being held on Friday, May 9th at 1:15 in church. The Crowning will be followed by our Grandparents' Tea here at school. Should there be grandparents who are not able to climb the stairs at school, be sure to read the weekly Eaglet for details for "bussing" from church to school. The students will be preparing invitations to share with their grandparents; this is always such a wonderful day. Thank you for helping your child's teacher and his/her classes' roommom prepare for this day. I look forward to sharing the Rosary in church with each of you on that day.

As you have observed, construction for our parish center is moving forward. It is exciting to watch the progress of this building. Thank you all for being so watchful in bringing your children to school and in picking them up at the end of the day. REMINDER: no child will enter a car when it is in the road-all cars MUST pull in to the curb. PLEASE, also do not park a the curb at dismissal time... simply remain in your car and drive with traffic to the front of the building. . . staff members will be with all children until they are picked up. The safety of our students continues to be a priority for all.

Our Spring Concert will be held on Thursday, May 29th. Due to the center construction and the lack of parking, Mrs. Cerruto and our students will be sharing in the concert at two different times on that day. In an effort to ease the parking "crunch", a morning concert will be held at 10:00 for grades K-8; an evening concert will also be held at 6:00 for grades K-4, and at 7:30 for grades 5-8. Encourage grandparents who would like to attend to join us for the morning; parking in front of the school at 10:00 will be fine.

With summer fast approaching, several of our staff members are working to provide a summer "Under the Sea" program. The program will be held the week of July 21st. Applications for this program can be found in this months' envelope. Please note also that Mrs. Karen Hicks will be available for summer tutoring for students in any grade. You can phone Mrs. Hicks at school and leave a message for her.

Many upcoming events for the month of May are included in our monthly May calendar.. . uniform ordering (note also that Dennis Uniform is part of our Scrip program), summer uniform date, our Spring Book Fair dates, and many other spring events are included. I hope to see many of you at these functions. Please note that the PE uniform form as well as a form for extra summer help books is enclosed in this envelope; return dates are on each form.

As the month of April ends, all tuition fees to the school should be meet with SMARTS. Should you be delinquent in your tuition, PLEASE we need you to make every effort to become current immediately. We are not able to meet the monthly expenses of our school if you are not current with yours here at school. Each families' Advancement commitment is due May 15th; again, please be prompt with your financial responsibilities. If anyone is experiencing a financial problem, please phone Mr. Lanteri to discuss the situation.

I am in awe that this month has already come to a close. I am in awe that this school year is rapidly approaching its end. I will forever share wonder and gratitude for all that you, as parents of students at St. Anthony School, do for your children and for our schooL Each week shares so many different "happenings" at school; each week, I watch as so many of you respond to the requests for cafeteria or playground aid, assistance in the classroom, or respond in a positive manner when asked to help out at different school events. YOU help to ensure that St. Anthony School continues to be the strong institution that it is. Know how grateful I am to each of you for all that you do.

Each of you continues to be in my daily prayer.

With gratitude,

Mrs. Pat Devanney
